It is now safe to assume that Symbian is as good as dead and that Nokia has to quickly start to ship it’s first Windows Phone 7 handset. The Finnish company has just lowered its Devices & Services second quarter 2011 outlook and is expecting net sales to be substantially below its previously thought. The company is also hoping to ship the first Nokia Windows Phone at the end of the year:
- Nokia remains pleased with its progress on its Windows Phone strategy, and has increased confidence that the first Nokia product with Windows Phone will ship in the fourth quarter 2011.
Note that it clearly says “Nokia product” and not “Nokia products”. We shouldn’t expect a high volume of handset before Q1 2012. Full PR after the break:
